OK! We're officially going to do a gift exchange for the holidays this year... (What am I saying? Holidays?? Christmas!) We will be doing the drawing soon, at this point I'm waiting to make sure Shiloh wants to be in it. The gifts should range from about 10-20 bucks. I thought it would be great to have everyone post what he or she wanted on the blog... then I thought about it some more... and I think we can be more creative than that. If you don't know what your fellow trainees like by now, this is a good opportunity to find out! SO.... yeah, this post lost some of its meaning do to that. Oh well :D we will be drawing names this Wed (so every one remind me if I forget!!)

(Jessica is hanging her clothes out to dry on the balcony as Rae comes up to talk to her)
Rae: "Pssst! Hey Jessica!"
Jes: "yeah?"
Rae: "Did you hear the trick were going to play on the guys?"
Jes: "No! What is it?"
Rae: "Well we took, all the Halloween candy and hid it in various places throughout the apartment, Like in the Refrigerator and inside the Applejacks box on top of the fridge! And then were going to tell them that we gave it to the neighbor kids!"
Jes: "Oh man! Doug's gonna be mad!
Rae "I know!"
Jes: "He is always complaining about how he doesn’t get any candy!"
1:10pm
(Doug and Faye are in Jessica and Faye's room, sitting casually. Jessica enters)
Jes: "Hey guys!"
Doug: "hi Jessie!"
Faye: "hey Sweetie!"
(Rae enters the room)
Rae: "Hey Faye, did those kids by to collect the candy we promised them"
Jess: "What! We're giving the candy away"

(Jessica and AJ are talking by the front door. the pumpkin where the candy used to be is close by)
AJ: "So I heard you guys hid all the candy!"

Jess: "I thought they were going to gave it to the kids" (lifts up pumpkin lid) "what were is it! What did they do with it! Ugh!"
AJ: (laughs) "so you had nothing to do with this"
Jess: "No! I no I heard there were some kids that were going to come by."
AJ: Ah! Well I need to go down stairs.
Jess: "Okay! Bye Friend!"
AJ: "Bye"
(Jessica goes into her room. Doug is trying to hug Faye. It’s a little awkward, but Jessica doesn't mind. She goes to her desk, works at her desk organizing things)
Doug: "You won't hug me all the way! It’s just a half hug! Jess, she isn't hugging me! She is only hugging me with one arm!"
Jes: "Faye you need to hug him!"
Faye: "He said my hug was 'half-ass' he said that!"
Jes: "well it kind of is! Roommate you got to hug him all the way!"
Doug: (laughs) "Thanks Jess!" (Gives Jessica a high five)
Jes: "Now kiss and make up!"
Faye: "If you say so!"
Jes: "yuck!"
(Jessica goes about the room putting stuff in her back pack, then comes back to her desk)
Doug: "So I found out that you guys hid the candy"
Jes: "Aww man!"
Doug: "speaking of which I am going to look right now!"
(Doug runs out of the room and into the kitchen, Jessica follows. He starts shuffling around in the fridge, and in the cabinets.)
Doug: "Jessica! Where is it!?"
Jes: "I don't know!" (Jessica mistakenly looks up at the Applejacks box, on top of the fridge. Doug notices)
Doug: "is it up here?
(Jessica stands there trying to play cool)
Doug: "it isn't in these cupboards, what about be hind the cereal...hey wait this is to heavy to be a box of cereal!" (He opens the box and laughs) you guys are silly! Ha Ha!! (Yelling) I found the candy! I found the candy! Its mine!" (Jessica puts the box back up on the fridge. Doug opens the fridge)
Doug: "why do you have it in the fridge?
Jes: "to hide it"
Doug: “I am going to take these to!"
Jes: “No!”
(Jessica takes some and Doug grabs the applejacks box and pours out the candy on the ground. the both fight for the candy, aiming for the chocolate first.)
Jes: "this is just like a piñata!"
(Jessica throws some tootsie rolls at Doug’s face. she then realizes he is taking most of the chocolate. she starts to grab more candy. they begin to fight. Faye enters the room as they are beating each other up)
Faye: "what's going on!"
Doug: "I found the candy!"
Jes: "I'm sorry roommate! I glanced at the applejacks box!"
Faye: "aww! Jess!"
Doug: "Ha Ha! And now I am taking it!"
(Doug runs out of the apartment down stairs, the girls chase after him into the boys apartment and knock him on the floor, and try to pin him down as he struggles. Stephen is in the living room reading)
Doug: "Stephen Help! They hid the candy from us!"
Stephen: "Wha!?"
Doug: "They hid all the candy from us! But I found it!"
(Stephen runs over and grabs Jessica, and fights her off of Doug, Faye tries to hold him back, but he gets loose and runs out the door up stairs)
Doug: "ha ha I am going to find all the candy!"
Faye: No Jess hurry! He is going up stairs!
(Jessica and Faye run up after him. he slams the door and locks it. Jessica runs back down stairs)
Jes: "I'll get the key!"
(She runs into the kitchen aiming for the kitchen drawer. Stephen stops her. and fights her off.)
Jes: "Faye Help!"
(Jessica frantically looks for the key in the drawer. AJ come out of his room and helps Stephen fight Jessica. He grabs her as she shuffles through the drawer and she bites his arm.)
Jes: "Faye! Help! Come quick!"
(Faye runs into the room. AJ grabs her. She fights off AJ as she is trying to look through the drawer. Doug comes in and tries to get the key. Faye tries to push him to the side. The key is spotted. Faye grabs for it. Then Jessica. Then Doug snatches it from the drawer jerks himself loose, runs up stairs and slams the door. He then comes out on the balcony and mocks at the girls)
Doug: "ha ha! I have the key!"
(Jessica casually walks into the boys' apartment and starts to grab their chocolate. Stephen notices and starts to come at her. She struggles to open her Velcro pockets. Stephen tries to get the candy from her, as she stuffed the candy in her pockets. She breaks free runs out he door and grabs more candy. AJ notices and chases after her she runs out the gate and then back to the apartment. They stop to notice Faye trying to climb the balcony. When she finds it to difficult, she jumps down)
Faye: "Jess lets go in there room!"
(The girls run into AJ and Doug's room. AJ and Stephen follow. Faye tries to take AJ's mouse; AJ grabs Faye while Stephen grabs Jessica. The wrestle, Jessica tries to throw Stephen in the closet. Faye run out of the room, AJ chases her. Andrew comes out of his room, he helps Stephen. They bring Jessica out into the living room Andrew grabs a pillow)
Jes: (Eyes wide with shook) "NO! Faye Help!"
(Andrew smiles and laughs)
Jes: "Faye help"
Andrew: "we don't need your yelling!"
(Andrew stuffs the pillow in Jessica's face. She jerks away Andrew and Stephen try to grab her. Andrew grabs Jessica and falls over the couch. Jessica sees that the circumstance looks awkward, she grabs at this opportune moment)

(Jessica laughs and runs upstairs. Faye meets her there. they lock the door and collect all the candy on the ground and hide it. They come back down stairs aiming for AJ and Doug’s room. The boys fight them off. Jessica and Faye get into the boys' room, as just Stephen slips in. Faye sits against the door as Jessica tries to throw Stephen in the closet again. Stephen grabs hold of Faye and pulls her as Doug is on the other side of the door pushing the door open.)
Doug: "ha ha"
(Jessica runs to the window and pops the screen off. Faye is fighting off Doug)
Faye: "I'm breaking up with you after this! Jessica run away!"
Jes: "I need some shoes"
Doug: “Don't let her take my flip flops AJ!
(AJ tries to grab the flip-flops; Jessica grabs one of them and hits AJ)

(Jessica forgets the flip-flops and the girls escape out the window. Andrew looks out the window to see the neighbors popping their heads out their windows. They come back into the apartment. The boys fight them off. Jessica goes into AJ and Doug’s room, AJ follows, and she sits down at his desk. She looks around and notices "something of great value to AJ." She leaves the room and goes into the hallway. Stephen tries to grab her. She breaks loose Stephen chases her. She runs into AJ and Doug's room and snatches the "thing of great value" and hops out the window.)
Stephen: (doesn't notice) "Fine! Leave!"
(Jessica runs upstairs and hides It. she calls Doug)
Doug: "Hello"
Jes: "I need to talk to my roommate"
Doug: "She is kind of tied up right now."
Stephen "dose she get one phone call"
Faye: "I get one phone call." (Doug hands the phone to Faye) "Jessica I need your help"
Jes: "Faye! You gotta get up here."
Faye: "I can't, they are tying me up!"
Jes: (whispers)"I have AJ's 'thing of great value!'"
Faye: "What!?"
Jes: "I have AJ's --" (Andrew unlocks the door and enters)
Jes: "oh no! I gotta go! bye" (she hangs up)
(Jessica gets frustrated because she realizes she needs to go, but is still determined to communicate with Faye. she walks down stairs and heads into AJ and Doug’s room. and finds Faye tired on the floor. bye this time everyone is to tired to fight anymore)
Jes: (Sternly) "I need to talk to Faye! I have to go"
(Begins to whisper into Faye ear. Doug tries to listen in. Jessica whips around and glares)
Jes: "I am serious Doug! I need to leave!" (turns to Faye and whispers) "I took AJ's 'thing of great value' and I hid it in the _______"
"Okay."

Update on Eleanor's Parents

Hey everybody,
I don't know if anyone checks this anymore... I know Mark does, at least. ;)

I talked to Brandy this evening. Of course y'all know about Hurricane Katrina and how it's basically covering New Orleans in several feet of water. Brandy said, however, that she had just received an email from Eleanor, saying that Eleanor's parents had been evacuated to Texas and that they were all right. Praise God for His provision and protection of His people. Continue to pray for her parents, and for Eleanor as well as I'm sure it must be rather nervewracking for her. And of course pray for the victims and all the various organizations and agencies aiding the relief effort. He is never far. Train up, my friends.

well... you will probably read this before the problem! First of all: God is an amazing provider! After the prayer request i proceeded to look for jobs online. I was checking out Steamers, Jazz Cafe, Fitness bar and Grill, a couple day cares, photographer job, art supply warehouse and Plush... however i wasnt feeling that excited about any of them (part of my prayer pre-search was that when I came across the job for me I would know) after many wasted hours online (and not working) i began to give up for the day. During those last few min Kent was talking on the phone. I heard him say something about children's illustrations so i was naturally curious about the job. He knew that I was interested, but when he said "I have to trust that you will really pump this thing out" he was more serious then ive ever seen him be. As we continued to talk i began to realize that this job was seeming all about me... and... it was! Kent's commission was to manage a job, meaning he finds the people to do it, approves, finances and delegates authority... and i, MAKE THE DARN THING! I chose allie as an assistant (because i know she has done mural work and wants to pursue that field) there are 4 walls, 21 x 10ft, 12 x 9ft, 13 x 8ft, 9 x 6.5ft... after prayer, talking to Kent, AJ, Dad and Allie I have decided to do it! ..::sigh::.. i cant believe its really happening! And the fact that Kent wanted to ask me first is a great honor :,) im sure in the 30 years he has been in the mural business he could have found someone of more experience, but he saw my need for a job and knew that it was God's timing. (FREAKIN HECK YES!!) so... im going to be having the time of my life painting my dream job while making enough money to cover my budget (and if we make the Jan dead line we set for ourselves) ill make more! Kent also mentioned that since its such a big thing, and since we are going to blow their minds with such an amazing mural then it would get the ball rolling for future commissions that we could work together on (bashful smile) I have been most humble about being his personal assistant, but now... ill be his partner :D the signature on the bottom :

Prayer Tunnel

Thursday night was women’s night and Nicole led it (She mentioned earlier this summer in a previous posting). She had been felling that the lord wanted us to do a prayer tunnel. This is when the group gets into two lines facing each other (like what one would see at a Hoe Down) and then everyone goes through the tunnel and is prayed for. The whole time the people in line are praying for whatever the Lord is leading them to pray for, regardless of whether or not they are laying hands on the person walking through. The people walking through are not praying but receiving prayer from the tunnel.
This whole experience was amazing. People were just in constant prayer, the Holy Spirit was moving in that room. People started taking longer amounts of time to pray for the women passing through the tunnel. It ended up to be a traffic jam in the tunnel. Sadly we had to end it as it was getting to late, so more then half didn’t get through the tunnel. Nicole said that she has never seen it last that long, we just wanted to keep praying over each other. I thank God for this, because people may now see that praying for long periods of time isn’t as bad as the enemy would like us to think.
I would love to see the Train Station do this. It is awesome how the Lord gives you things to pray for as the person is walking through the tunnel. I know that there were two girls that the Lord let me see into their lives. One girl, He had me pray over her future and where she would go with that. Let’s just say that the Lord has big plans for that girl in foreign countries. Another girl, I just saw her dancing before the Lord, He didn’t want her to hold back. It was such a blessing to be used by God to speak into my sisters’ lives.
Like I said, I would love to see the Train Station do this. The staff project director told us in the beginning of the summer that “There is nothing that makes us love others more than praying for them” I feel that this would be an awesome way to encourage each other, love on each other, and build each other up in prayer.

Hey hey hey ladies and gents,
Just wanted to get an idea of when everybody was officially going to be permanently moving in to the apartments, to stay. School starts on Monday, August 22nd. I realize not everybody can do this or wants to do this; but I would like to throw the suggestion on the table that we should all try to move in a week before school starts (i.e. on or around the 15th). I can speak from personal experience (at Hope) that it really, really sucks moving in a day or two before--it's nice to have time to unpack at leisure, get settled, and just hang out before getting into the routine. Plus, I think it would be good to start getting a feel for the practical side of living together and living in apartments, before having to sort out how it goes along with school and all that. It would be good too to maybe start our weekly dinners, any devotional type things we might be going through together, maybe finally get that blasted contract written and signed (in blood, right?).... So, I'm going to be moving in on the 15th or that previous weekend. When are the rest of y'all comin'? Let me know!

I love you all and miss you all very much! Can't wait to see everybody, and get all moved in! Blessings in our supreme Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

uhm.. as most of you are already doing.. registration is already in progress and that means it's that dreadful time of the year where you need to figure out what classes you want but wont get, the classes you didnt want but get anyways.. to the all around take all the classes you need as long as you have friday off.
well jess has been keeping in touch with me these past couple days to let me know what her schedule is going to be like.. and i definitely appreciate it.. because it helped me realize that since we're all living in intentional community.. that means that we're going to working around each others schedule.. and so if you would.. please send me what nights look mostly free to you for this coming semester so i get an idea of what night looks best for our community time.. that includes your own regular church/collegegroup/small group times.. this definitely will be a requirement.. so i hope to hear from you soon..
from what i understand as of right now.... myself and shiloh have college group on thursday nights, tuesdays look like itll still be campus crusade leader meetings, friday nights myself and bethany have youth group, and doug has his college group night on sunday.
so this is very vital that we figure out a night that we can all fully devote and participate in community togetherness...
as for everything else i hope that all is well with all of you.. and continue to pray that God is working wonders in your guys lives.. i miss all you!

Okay! First of all look at my post on my blog (thewatchmanstower.blogspot.com). The lord blessed me in seeing four people accepting Christ into their lives. Praise GOD!

As I said in my comment to Rae's post, I am really hoping to continue to dig into your guys' lives and to be vulnerable in opening up to you guys. The Lord has just taught me a lot about humility, and taming the tongue. During my discipleship time, my discipler talked with me about growth and relationships with people. Anyway through this, I found that I am so quick to speak that I don't realize that it can hurt people (which is so selfish). I also found myself interurpting people a lot. Like if they are talking with someone I just "barge in" and talk to them, without even thinking before I act.

So with this I want to apologize to you guys in ways in which I didn't think before I acted, and just acted upon my selfish feelings, not thinking about what is the best for each of you individually. I am trying to learn from this in hopes to be slow to speak and quick to listen.

there is this cool relationship equation that my discipler told me, which is Grace + Truth / Time = Growth. Each element to the equation is important for growth. We need to be truthful with each other, but still extend grace. And We can't just have grace without truth. Like, we can't give grace without being truthful about how we are feeling or how certain things and situations are affecting us. And we can't have all this good grace and truth without time. We have to take the time (and make the time) for the roots of our relationships grow deeper.

I hope this summer we will all take the time to dig into each others' lives and continue to be real with each other's, and not leaving it for August.

Hey Guys,
I miss you. I can't wait to see you again. I am doing the leadership training thing out in colorado this summer. I can't wait to ministry with you guys again next semester. Ashley and I are having a great time she is does housekeeping at the castle here that was turned into a hotel and I wash dishes in their 5 star kitchen(among other things).

It is absolutely beautiful out here. In my free time between training sessions, I go hiking a lot. A few days ago above the house that I am living at with the other 20 guys on the trip there was a herd of big horn sheep ramming each other, it was pretty cool. There is tons of wildlife here, including wild turkeys.

I'm praying for you guys, I can't talk much on the computer but I hope you are enjoying the beach for me this summer.

i would just like to reinstate the purpose of this blog. It was birthed from a necessity to know whats going on in the progress of our train station. Recently it has turned into a rare post of hi-s and how-are-you-s which is fine, except for the fact that we dont know whats going on :P Although most of the train station appears complete, some expectations were not met, and those delays were not posted. It was an error easily made, and unfortunately i have suffered the consequences because of a simple lack of notification. Please lets keep this an updated place of the state our apartments are in, what furniture we have come across and how we are in our spiritual life! on that note... does anyone know someone with a truck that can assist me next weekend?

Doin alright over here in LA... took the day off half way through (head hurts from having my teeth taken out) AJ is still out there working (10 pm) and i have no idea when they are getting back :P the party sounds cool... i guess ive been so concerned with getting a fourth guy i hadnt thought of the fun stuff we are gunna get to do! Yo, Yo, whats up, How are all of your summers going. I've been thinking about you guys a lot. Things are going well with me, still looking for another job, but I'm feeling encouraged.
I have a question and an idea for you all. Some student leaders with our college ministry at church and I were planning a few months ahead and thought it would be really cool to throw a joint Root Bear Kegger Party with our college ministry and campus crusade at your place by the pool and clubhouse. It would be a fun social and networking time, as well as a possiblly a really good outreach time as it would be something we could invite your neighbors and other students too. I'm not sure but I could maybe see if I could find somebody to come in and DJ. Either way I think it would be a cool idea. We were thinking Friday night Sept 23 @ 6:00 p.m. Let me know what you all think. We would need to find out what all the management would let us get away with. But let me know what you all think

So I was worshipping at TAG tonight. And I had a vision.

I had remembered a prophetic word spoken over me long ago, when I was asking for prayer for God to raise up an army to bring revival to Fullerton. As people prayed over me, God told one of them "You have to have a family before they can be an army."

So I saw the members of the community. We were in full armor, with swords drawn. We were charging towards CSUF. The school had something like a giant trap over it, all black. We were in bright light, and as we ran, we cut the cords holding the tarp. Apparently, there was a strong wind at our back, because as we cut the cords, the tarp was blown back (wind is usually a symbol of the Holy Spirit). We continued running and cutting cords until the whole tarp blew away, and light shown on our campus. The end.

Hey Everybody,
Well, it's official--I'm FINISHED with the most important paper of my college career! Rae and Jessica, you would be proud; I stayed up until 5:30am this morning finishing it. Now I know how you feel. :) It was interesting going to bed just as the sun was coming up. But God gave me strength; I wasn't really too tired the whole time I was working on the paper, and I wasn't even that tired at 8:15 when I got up--I've been more tired at other times during the semester. So I'm sitting in my music technology class now in the music lab typing this--our instructor is just listening to people's projects, and he listened to mine on Tuesday, so all but one of us at a time are literally just sitting here with nothing to do. And he doesn't even mind. So after this, I'm going to the music department convocation--the ceremony where they do the music fraternity stuff, and hand out awards to the important people, and the rest of us just sit in the audience and clap politely and then take advantage of the free dessert reception afterwards. Fun stuff. Well, thanks for all your prayers--I still need them for my finals and my other 2 papers--but 351B is done!! 20 pages strong--oh yeah. For training. I love you all--keep on training!

hey everyone.. i know the next two weeks are gonna be a pain in the caboose. but i hope and pray that we can continue to persevere, encourage , and lift one another up....

i know you guys have a lot goin' on this week and next.. but this next meeting is very vital... we have much to discuss. and fortunately its not going to be in the early morning.. but since most of you are usually eating at the time of 7 at hope (doug included) than that will be the time that we too will meet tomorrow (tuesday night) and there after those going to the the leadership dessert can go together at 8:30...

if there are any opposed to this.. talk to myself, doug, or papa loh.. (preferably papa loh) and i believe that we would meet at hope anyways. so let me know if theres a problem with that or you have any further questions.

You guys are the best! I am amazed at how much you care about my situation. It is obvious that each of you are driven by the love of God. You guys are an awesome group of women and men for God.

Just to clue everyone in, I spoke to my dad last night about the apartment and his reaction was mixed. We are going to go look at it on saturday(tomorrow)...pray that if it is God's will that my dad will see the benefits of the situation.

Doug, Faye, Jessica- thank you for your encouragement calls. They deeply ministered to me.

Hey ladies and gentlemen,
I just wanted to share with y'all the passage I was reading in my quiet time this morning. John 15:1-8 (ESV):

1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch of mine that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples."

There's so much good stuff in there (which is why I quoted the whole thing); I would really encourage you guys to meditate on this and to pray it back to God for our community. But a few things I was noticing in particular:
1. The all-importance of abiding in Christ. I heard a talk on this passage once where the speaker said that "abiding" in this case meant "staying connected." We need to stay connected to Christ and to His Word (v. 7), both individually and as a whole community, for this to work.
2. Prorities! He is the vine and we are the branches. This is not for us (although we get some cool stuff out of it too:)); it's all for Him.
3. "Apart from me you can do nothing." No matter what we do, if we're doing it apart from Christ, it's not worth doing it because we won't be able to do it. :) (Is that kind of like the main thing being to keep the main thing the main thing?)
4. Verse 7. With everything that still needs to happen with applications, leases, co-signers, dads... if we ask in God's will, if we're staying connected, He'll give it to us.
5. Dare I say verse 8 would be an awesome mission statement for the Train Station? Just a suggestion...

Possible Bed/Space Solution

For those that don't know I went to the apartments yesterday to check them out. And the bedrooms are pretty small. I was talking to the lady and she said it was unlikely that we could put two desks plus beds in each master bedroom....however after talking with Doug and AJ. I think we decided that, first of all the women didn't really know what she was talking about and that it could be possible to have two desks and two beds if we were really wise with the space available. Below is a link of a design of a loft bed that has a desk underneath it to maximize space. We could either buy something like this, they are about $200 bucks at IKEA or we could possibly make our own based on a similar idea.

Great is the Lord and Greatly to be Praised!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

Tonight was definitely a stressful night. We thought Rae's dad would co-sign for us all but then my dad talked him out of it. Rae and I were freaked about talking to our dad's, AJ felt that it was his fault that his mom thought that Rae’s dad thought she was an idiot, and Doug (like all of us) just wanted to hit something.

But Great is the Lord! We all know that the Lord wants to do this through us; we all have received conformation, and have seen the Lord bless us in our decision. Honestly, I see this as a roadblock that the enemy is trying to throw at us. Looking at tonight, I have seen us fret and worry. But why worry? "If God is for us, who can be against us?" We have this big God whom we can call father. He is our rear guard. He is backing us up on this. Yes this is hard, yes it is scary talking to the dad's who just don't understand, but in our suffering we praise God for we have been "counted worthy to suffer shame for his name." And we can rejoice in knowing that the Lord has this all in His hands. He sees this path before us and is guiding us down it. We will get through this because the joy of the Lord is our strength. When it all boils down to it, all that matters is His glory, and we can rejoice because He will receive all glory! So rejoice! Praise Him who is worthy to be praised. For the Lord is God, good and mighty!

I am a little disturbed that there is conflict concerning who will be on the top and who will be on the bottom. Personally I would prefer the top, but that is no different than anyone else, nor is my reasoning better. I didn't know it was an issue until tonight (because I thought faye didnt want the top) and knowing that at the time I was bummed out, BUT God quickly showed me that all my reasons for wanting the top were selfish and irrelivant to the quality of the community. I know it isnt that big of an issue, but we cannot let things like that get started. If we are all going to live together for a year and do what God wants us to, stuff like that can't be in the way. It seemed that who was going to have the top was already established (guys?) yet I don't know how that came to be. If you guys dont read this by tomorrow morning its aight, cause its going to come up. My vote is flipping a coin, if we are going to lay out reasons the CANNOT be about what YOU want, but what will improve ALL of our experiances at the Train Station.

(bad reasons include):
Who wants to have the party room
Who wants the bigger balchony
Who has more stuff to carry
Who wants a vaulted sealing
Who wants to be cool
Whos idea was it first
Who wants a view

(good reasons include):
A broken leg

anything else... deal with it! i vote for a coin flipping, unless someone happens to come up with a logical reason why one should have it.

(another possibility is switching after first semester, it shouldnt be that hard to do)

being that 6 of the 8 bros and sis' that were able to see the apartments plus papa loh... looks like we're gonna have ourselves 2 apartments by the end of this week.
the reviews of the apartments although, like doug said are things that we're gonna have to overcome.. and the issues that continue to arise as we continue to pray for the community and the apartments are only going to get tougher and so we gotta stay strong to get stronger in this testing of our faith as individuals and as a whole. we had no idea what God had in store for us one month ago today when we first had talked about starting it up (from grow) and we definitely have no idea what He has in store for us in the next few days, weeks, months, and 1 year that we make this commitment to one another and this ministry.
just as we all have been.. continue to pray for this purpose and bring many more to pray for the cause... i know we have many praying for us and thank all of them that do (cormack and eleanor :) )
and i realized that i look at my accountability bracelet and it says GODstrong on it.. and the verse attached to it applies...
Eph. 6:10-11 "Finally, be strong in the Lord and His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you may stand firm against the schemes of the devil."
we all have to be strong, we're the devil's target.. he's scheming. and reading through jess and stephens experiences at the worship you guys had on friday.. We already defeated the enemy, but he's not gonna stop there.

Hey y'all! I need to call Kammy from the Homestead apartments very soon. She left a message that they've had some people interested in one of our apartments (probably the girls') and she needs to know what we are doing. (could just be to scare us).

I have read some of the complaints about the website. Some of them are pretty hard to ignore. For me it will certainly be a change of lifestyle from my own [clean] room and driveway parking. For those of you coming from Hope, this place should be a castle. just a castle...with holes, and mold, and maneur, and ants, and broken dishwashers, and towed cars, and ants, and slashed tires, and poor paint, and unclean carpet, and poor maintenance service, and more ants, and expensive laundry facilities, frequently shut off water, and unreturned security deposits , and and and...

Now, there is probably tons of context around each instance due to the amount of people in the world who get irate at things that aren't as bad as they seem. Are we willing to suffer through this, make a difference, look for the positive, encourage others [all in Christ] to make this place a castle with forty foot hight walls, a mote, gardens, proper security (archers), blue sky, crumpets and tea, jesters, triangle flags, and white knights?? This place will require PRAYER PRAYER PRAYER for us to impact it for God's glory. I think this place needs Christ's love the most. This place is lost. Maybe our community's purpose has greater implications that we initially perceived. Is THIS our assignment? Could this be where God wants to start revival? Please pray heavily on these things because I was hoping to put money down to hold these places this week.

hey there you guys... mike, i loved the vista place a lot.. but unfortunately i called and they had nothing available.. but the apartments have been in huge discussion and seems to me that we all would like to know about a for sure place , thats st in stone by next week so if we could all keep ur eyes and ears open, and even search if you have the time to look for a place it would be greatly appreciated.. school winding down and everyone.. most everyone will be leaving so we need to really get on this... cause its GOING TO HAPPEN... :) plus if any of you are free tomorrow around 4ish, myself and doug will be going around the area... so gimme a call if youd like to go..

also, i talked to mike and bethany about this already, but as excited as we are about moving in together and with God, thankfully answering our prayers to become a part of this community.. i hope and ask that you guys will continue to pray for our community not only for its growth but that you would pray for God to open the availability for 2 apartments in the area for us.

i think its something that we've been lacking... and i know the next few weeks will be overwhelming but prayer is always good.. just as God is always good and faithfull.

Hey Guys!
I am excited about this opportunity...I can't wait to live in community this next semester.

Ok a couple of things, I need to know. I spoke with my dad and he basically said that I am free to do whatever I want in terms of the living situation, but, he said that we(my parents) have the means to support me in having my own room, if I would prefer that. And I think I would prefer that if it is possible for a number reasons, first of all I have to get up at 5am every morning and I don't think any of the other guys want to hear my alarm everyday, and I can tend to be somewhat messy (which is something I am trying to work on) but still if I am rooming with someone who is really neat than they might be kind of frustrated with me, but maybe its a growing experience, I don't know.
But anyway ultimately my dad said that the decision is up to me, which is cool.

Oh yeah, and furthermore as a side note, I really feel that we should include Tim in this. For me personally he has been probably one of the most dependable people on the outreach team this semester, and I think he would have been even more dependable if he lived closer to campus....I am not even sure if he would be interested, but I would be stoked if he was because it was awesome living with him in Japan last summer...we always found ourselves laughing about some of the stupidest stuff. I think he would be an awesome addition to the community, and personally I don't think that everything should be so set in stone that we can't invite him. Let’s talk about it.

Oh yeah and one more thing if we have a 3 bedroom apartment, rent will be super cheap for each guy because I would be paying a 1/3rd of the rent, which would come to like only $200-$300 each.

Also, I found a place online that is 2 miles from campus called "Vista del Plaza" where they have 3 bedroom/3 baths for $1475! Which is really cheap! I've never been there but the pictures of it look pretty nice. What was the price of the other 2 bedroom place that we were looking at? Also if anyone has any other listings post those so we can go check them out. Faye, I got your call I will call you right now.

So I guess I would say that my feelings are that if it is possible I would prefer a 3 bedroom place. But I am willing to talk about other ideas too but the main thing is that I really am looking forward to living with you guys next semester.

lovin' the name... granted aj.son still needs to explain the whole train ordeal, but i am lovin' it.... but its come to the last weeks of school you guys and we need to get all aboard since 5 of you will be gone for the summer leaving myself ,bethany and doug all by our lonesomes. and if we want to have the train station running we're gonna need to get a place.. because waiting lists are gonna be long.. especially for incoming freshman and transfers.... we had a conference call last night..which was awesome... we need to have another one.. see where everyone is at with the apartments.. and i'd like to know if you guys are free for next friday night for some bonding time. if u guys are i may have a huge surprise. so please let me know through here or gimme a call or lets conference cause i know everyones gonna be getting pretty busy with papers and studyin for finals..
we're all super excited and i love that we're getting close.. but honestly if its REALLY going to happen we need to do a lot... and that even includes sacrificing some money for the extra month that we wont even be living in it yet.. but itll secure a place for us to live for the rest of the year.. so let me know if u found anymore apartments ur interested in or any concerns regarding the apartments.. just anything at all about the apartments i WANT to know input... we're in this all together.. and we'll be running the race together too... so better start now.

Oh my freakin' gosh.

So Doug and I were out talking by his car at 12:40 am tonight, and we so came up with the name for the community.

The Train Station.

Pure and simple. It fulfills all the requirements given so far for a name: 1) it's hip, happenin' and cool; 2) it represents who we are, what we stand for and what we do; and 3) it fits the "hey let's go to" line: "I'm heading back to the Train Station!" "Hey let's meet back at the Train Station!" It's so perfect. You just can't deny it. And for those few of you who don't know what TRAIN is, and you don't know what the heck I'm talking about and you think I've gone insane... well we already knew that but once TRAIN is explained to you, you too will see the incredible awesomeness and will agree that this should be our name. Seriously. It's so perfect. Doug and I literally jumped up and down and screamed "YES!!" when we came up with it. It's so there. You don't even know. So anyway comment and tell us all how awesome it is... and until we meet/speak/read again, TRAIN OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
